United States Olympic House during the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics
The Corporate Event
On August 7, 2016, U.S. Consul General in Rio de Janeiro James Story and the Public Affairs and Culture sections of the U.S. Consulate invited Legacy and Alchemy to appear at the USOC Olympic House. Located in a space that is normally a school (the Collegio de Sao Paolo), the USA Olympic House was located in a seven-story marble-clad school building right on Ipanema Beach. It was home to Team USA’s Olympic athletes during the 2016 Rio games.
Over the course of the Games, USA’s Olympic House welcomed more than 24,000 guests in a 50,000-square-foot space dedicated to all things Team USA, evoking the athletes’ home country. The USOC created an extraordinary hospitality complex, complete with a bar and a buffet, and transforming classrooms into spaces, including a dazzling interactive display that’s being used to promote the 2024 Olympic bid for Los Angeles. The building’s roof, and its stunning views, were converted into a lounge and interview headquarters. Designed in partnership with Citi and set in the brand’s blue and white, the top-floor room offered 360-degree views of Rio, stretching from Ipanema beach right up to Christ the Redeemer and the Two Brothers (los Dois Irmãos).
